i wrote a zine piece for wbru but it never got released. here is the last paragraph from it: Music isn’t a coherent statement. It’s not any one specific feeling. It’s what happens when you hoard five years of sound and drop it all at once. And to be fair, the title of the album is reflective of what was released. But the reception of the album is as well. Some fans call it Carti’s most human project, and others deem it his sloppiest. Somewhere in between those extremes is the truth: Music is Carti doing Carti. Loud, flawed, constantly evolving, and at thirty tracks deep, there’s “music” in it for everyone. The only question now is… what’s next?
